Welcome to our new Afan Valley Angling Club website.
We have developed and modified our website to bring you an updated members portal for the Afan Valley Angling Club.
Due to popular requests we will be re-installing the members' forum and re-establishing the access controls that will enable us to control the information that is published on our site and more importantly who gets to see it.
Please use the site menus and links to navigate around the site.
Following recent events on the river, the NRW have been contacted and are in constant liason with club representatives. To keep you up to speed, please see below an extract from an email response from the NRW to the club.
"NRW officers are currently in attendance and are investigating the source of a breakout of ocherous water into the River Pelenna above the village of Tonmawr. Several kilometres of the River Afan are also affected beneath Pontrhydyfen. NRW are working with the Coal Authority to identify the source of the pollution, there is likely to be a visual effect in the Afan catchment downstream of Pontrhydyfen for the next 24-36 hours. Our initial assessments show that the dissolved oxygen and pH levels of the river are within a normal range, and we haven’t witnessed any dead fish or fish in distress, however if your members do see any dead fish or signs of fish in distress, they are advised to contact NRW on our incident hotline on: 0800 807060".
We will continue to update you, when we can.
